Let me just say it plainly:
It hurts more when the doubt comes from the people you love.

Your husband says, “Maybe you should just get a job.”
Your parents ask, “Are you sure this business thing is working out?”
Your kids are pulling at your leg while you’re on a call, and your partner is emotionally shut down—while you’re out here trying to change your family’s legacy.

I get it. I’ve lived it.
But this is your reminder: You were called. They weren’t.

In this article, I want to share my personal story of how I stayed true to myself—despite the opinions, pressure, and emotional weight from my closest relationships. Whether you’re a mom, a wife, a daughter, or all three, this is your survival guide for holding your vision steady when life (and people) try to shake it.

When Doubt Comes From the Inner Circle.

Let’s be real: it’s easier to brush off internet trolls than it is to hear the person you share a bed with say, “This isn’t working.”

What people don’t see is that building a business—especially as a woman and a mother—is about more than just money. It’s about purpose, freedom, and breaking generational curses.

When I started DFX, it wasn’t just a business. It was my mission. My way of helping diverse entrepreneurs, especially women and veterans, get the funding and education they were never taught to access.

But I didn’t always have support. People I love told me to quit.

BUSINESS, women in business, how not to quit

People I trusted didn’t understand the vision.

And for YEARS - I believed them.

I doubted myself.

I was in financial trouble. Stuck in limiting beliefs, blocking blessings and opportunities because my mind was fogged with stress and anger.

I was always questioning if I belonged in the room. Resenting others who couldn't understand.

Trying to always explain, explain, explain the vision.
But the truth is, they weren’t supposed to understand the vision. If they're not listening to you and shut down, they will never understand. And that's OK.

The vision was given to me, not them.

How I Stayed Calm and Emotionally Resilient

stay calm in the office, protect your peace, women in business, how to handle toxic people at work

Here’s how I didn’t lose my mind—or my dream—when the people around me didn’t believe:

1. I Created Emotional Space

When someone questioned my business, I didn’t react right away. I created space to feel, reflect, and refocus. Sometimes that meant journaling. Other times, it was just walking outside in silence.

2. I Stopped Going to the Wrong People for Advice

I couldn’t keep asking people with an employee mindset for advice on how to run a CEO-level life. So I built a new community. I launched The Domino Effect—a platform to help other women stay encouraged, educated, and aligned with their calling.

3. I Collected Receipts

Whenever someone told me, “You’re not making enough money,” I pulled out my progress:
✔ I helped a daycare owner close a $650K deal
✔ I secured funding for a medical company
✔ I built a platform with over 4,200 subscribers
✔ I was in active talks with lenders and investors

Don’t let emotions erase your evidence.

Motherhood + Vision: Not Mutually Exclusive

I know what it’s like to feel guilty as a mom.

Your kids want attention. The house is loud. Your to-do list is insane.
And meanwhile, the people around you might be silently (or loudly) judging you for not “having it all together.”

Let me tell you something:
Being a present mom doesn’t mean giving up your purpose.

frustrated moms, how to handle work and kids, how to work from home with children, how to stay calm at home

In fact, I started including my kids in the process:

1. Letting them “help” with tasks.

2. Talking to them about what I do and why.

3. Letting them see me build something real.

They’re watching us more than they’re listening.
Let them see what strength, boundaries, and purpose actually look like.

What To Do When Your Partner Tells You to Quit

This part is hard.
Not every partner is toxic. Some are just scared. Some don’t understand.

what to do when your partner tells you to quit, how to handle toxic people,

But some will never get it—and you have to decide what kind of life you’re going to build anyway.

Here’s what I did:
I stopped trying to prove my worth.
I started setting standards.

I said:

“I hear your fears, but this vision is non-negotiable.”
“I’m not choosing this instead of you—I’m choosing it for us.

And I showed them. With actions. With results. With peace.

trust yourself, stay true to you, believe in yourself

How to Stay True to Yourself Through All the Noise

You won’t always feel strong.
You won’t always feel understood.
But staying true to yourself is about discipline, not emotion.

Here’s what I live by:

1. Radical Self-Awareness

Know what you're building. Know why it matters. Come back to it daily.

2. Inner Accountability

Everyone else can doubt you—but you can’t. Stay grounded in prayer, journaling, therapy, whatever keeps your soul clean and clear.

3. Adjust, But Don’t Quit

There’s a difference between pivoting and quitting.
Give yourself permission to rest, reassess, and realign.
But do NOT quit just to make other people comfortable.

how to stay true to yourself what to do when your family doesn’t support your dreams how to handle unsupportive spouse or partner staying motivated when no one believes in you how to keep going when you want to quit emotional resilience for entrepreneurs my family doesn’t support my business how to stay focused on your goals dealing with toxic family while building a business

Final Word From Me to You

If you’re reading this and feeling seen—I wrote this for you.
This is your reminder that your Domino Effect has already started.
Just because they don’t see it yet, doesn’t mean it’s not working.

👑 Stay in the fight. Stay true to you. And keep building—because someone is watching you and getting the courage to do the same.
