How Daily Spiritual Habits Strengthen Your Identity and Authority in Christ

Habits Shape Authority

is about habits—and not just routines, but who you’re becoming through them.

This year, I see a life led with intention, authority, and the power of the Holy Spirit. The closer I draw to Jesus Christ, the more clearly I understand who I am—and how I’m meant to operate.

There was a time when I lived in reaction mode. Letting fear, doubt, and outside noise dictate my emotions. I was tired of the enemy running everything around me while I forgot the authority I already had.

This year, I’m choosing something different.
A Spirit-guided, Spirit-filled way of life—one habit at a time.

Rewiring the Mind Takes Practice

Today, I can say I’m excited. But that wasn’t always true.

I grew up thinking a certain way—reactive, defensive, overwhelmed. Rewiring that mindset didn’t

happen overnight. It took intentional habits, faith, and honesty with myself and with God.

The noise didn’t disappear. Life didn’t get easier.

But my response changed.

That’s what habits do. They don’t remove challenges—they prepare you to face them differently.

When We Avoid Feelings, We Lose Ground

So many of us don’t know what to do in hard moments.

We run to anger. We run to blame. We run to alcohol, sex, distractions, or whatever numbs the discomfort fast.

Instead of sitting with ourselves and God, we spiral—reacting, avoiding, numbing.

But here’s the truth: you are a work in progress.

God delivered me—from darkness, doubt, self-sabotage, alcohol, despair. I wasn’t fixed overnight. I was filled when I recognized who I belonged to.

I am a child of God. And so are you.

Identity Is the Real Battle

In church recently, Bishop Lovelace spoke about evangelism—not as something you say, but something you are.

It’s about knowing your identity in Christ—especially when the enemy tries to distract you with lies:

  • “You’re not good enough.”

  • “That will never work.”

  • “You don’t have the skills.”

  • “You failed before—why would this be different?”

Jesus didn’t begin His ministry with crowds and miracles. He began with a test. Because the enemy doesn’t care about your activity.

He cares about your identity.

The battle isn’t about your job, your promotion, or your success.

It’s about whether you forget who gave it to you—and who you are becoming in Him.

Ignore the Noise, Guard Your Identity

Your adversaries will try to knock you off course.
To make you doubt who you are.

good habits

Ignore them.

God wants you active—but first, He loves you and is well pleased.
I may look good today, but there was a season where I went through hell.

And that’s why I have a testimony.

  • I was lost—but God found me.
I was bound—but God set me free.
I was caught up—but God lifted me up.

I know who I am.

4 Simple Habits to Practice This Week

1. Sit With God

Take a few minutes. Talk openly. Thank Him. Ask for what you need—from your heart.

2. Practice Gratitude

Write down three things you’re grateful for today. Slow down and really feel them.

3. Pause Before Reacting

In a challenging moment, breathe. Then ask:
“What can I learn from this?”
Everything is a teachable moment—even the painful ones.

4. Share Your Story

Your testimony matters. Share what God is doing in your life. You never know who needs to hear it.

Small habits, Big changes.
